Named after the intrepid explorer Dr David Livingstone, The Royal Livingstone will immerse you in the romance and style of a bygone era. Bathed in the shade of Acacia trees, the raw splendour of the bush blends perfectly with luxurious living. Luxuriate in the sophisticated harmony of antique and ethnic décor, superb cuisine and personalised service. Every detail of this 5-star luxury hotel captures the opulence and elegance of times gone, while echoing the stunning diversity of the African bush.

Location:

Set in the lush riverine belt and touching the banks of the great Zambezi River, perched almost on the lip of The Falls, this earthy Eden provides a secluded haven. From close by, guests will hear the deafening roar of The Victoria Falls and see the cascades of billowing mist rising up into the heavens.

Accommodation:

Curved seductively against the banks of the mighty Zambezi River, the Royal Livingstone Hotel comprises 173 spacious en-suite guest-rooms: 118 with twin beds, and 49 with king-size beds, each with its own private verandah, stretched nymph-like along the river bank in a series of private villas. This unique river frontage is perfect for guests sipping sundowners and enjoying the view that stretches to the great river and beyond. Three suites offer a separate lounge and bedroom, while the Presidential Suite offers an additional, optional, separate bedroom. Two rooms are also equipped with paraplegic facilities.

All guestrooms are luxuriously furnished, with freshly cut flowers, crisp white linen and large comfortable beds to welcome you after a day at the pool. Each room has satellite television, a mini bar, mini safe, telephone, as well as tea and coffee-making facilities. Bathrooms feature spacious showers and Victorian baths, with wildlife pencil sketches adorning the cool, ivory-washed walls, reflecting the textures and moods of the Zambezi River. All guestrooms are air-conditioned, providing the perfect sanctuary to retire to, after a day spent exploring the mysteries and challenges of this remarkable retreat.

Services:

24-hour room service is available with a butler at your service between 07:00 and 23:00 everyday. Your butler will manage your room service, organise valet and laundry, shoe polishing, call for your golf cart to move you about the resort in comfort and be available for all your other needs.

Pampering:

In keeping with the hotel’s 5-star services, there is a hairstylist on the premises. Manicures and pedicures can be arranged in-room and massages may either be enjoyed at a special facility around the pool, with a view over the river, or in the privacy of your room.

Dining:

With its unique Zambezi River frontage a stone’s throw from the rooms, The Royal Livingstone offers arriver experience of both adventure and great tranquility. Enjoy leisurely breakfasts or ‘alfresco’ lunches on the verandah overlooking the rolling lawns and the mighty Zambezi River. Traditional High Tea is served daily in the lounge under the watchful eye of Dr David Livingstone himself.

As the day fades and the lengthening shadows bring cool relief, you can wander down to the sundeck to marvel at the grand sweep of the watery horizon burnt gold by the sinking sun, whilst sipping sundowners in the most romantic of settings.

Later on, as millions of tiny silver lights garland the dome of the night sky, it’s time to treat yourself to a romantic, private dinner on your balcony, where the soft gentle glow of old-fashioned oil lamps and the serenade of crickets are reminders that you are truly in the heart of Africa. Or, dine in the hotel dining room, where you’ll find a combination of old-world savoir-faire and contemporary sophistication.

Here, you are invited to choose between dining inside, under softly lit crystal chandeliers, or on the veranda, where the cooling river breeze gently stirs the night air. Special ‘candle-lit’ dinners can be arranged under the star-studded skies for honeymooners and guests who celebrate anniversaries and other special occasions.
